MESSAGE:

Modern versions of the Bible put our theme Scripture in a manner that doesn’t communicate its deeper meaning. The King James Version uses the expression, “…those that OPPOSE THEMSELVES…”

To oppose yourself is to use words on yourself which build and destroy at the same time. Many of God’s children are ignorant of the impact of our words in the realm of the Spirit. In Romans 10:10, we’re told that “…with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation.” The Greek word translated “mouth” is “stoma” which specifically means, “the front or edge of a weapon.” Meaning, your mouth is a weapon with a double edge which cuts here and there.

God gave you a mouth to make confessions that lead to salvation and all of its benefits. This is why you must let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly; because out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. But if you’re not filled with the Word of God, chances are that your words will most often be negative, especially when you’re under pressure. Using your mouth to make the wrong confessions is actually using the the edge of a weapon to cut yourself. That’s what our theme Scripture meant by, “..opposing yourself.”

Don’t oppose yourself! Get to know the truth of God’s Word for yourself; it is the truth that you know which shall make you free.
